English-language broadcasts of Shanghai's real-time traffic situation will be available on radio and television during the Expo period, police said yesterday.
The Shanghai Public Security Bureau has teamed up with the International Channel of Shanghai to launch the city's first English broadcasting service on traffic situation.
It will provide traffic information to ICS viewers in English twice a day - once during the Expo Live noon TV newscast, and again during the Expo 360 feature program each weeknight at 8pm, the police said.
Two police officers, Yang Xiaoyi and Ma Kai, will provide the reports in the shows in English. The cooperation with foreign language news media is a first for the police.
"It is an honor and also challenge for us at our new occupation," Ma told reporters yesterday.
